SkinIt’s easy to hop out of the shower in the morning, towel off, put on your shoes and run for the door on a busy morning but don’t forget that important step of moisturizing!  Sure, moisturizing after your morning shower keeps you smelling like your favorite Vitabath® fragrance, but it does a lot more than that!

Why do we moisturize?

What happens when we forget to moisturize?

  • Skin loses elasticity- wrinkles start to appear!

So what’s the best way to moisturize?

PLUS for Dry SkinRight after you get out of the shower, when the bathroom is still steamy and your skin is still slightly damp.  Moisturizing before you’re 100% dry will lock the moisture into your skin and maximize its positive affects.

So don’t skip this important step, you’ll thank yourself later!

Why Sugar Scrubs?

September 14, 2010

Often people ask, “Which is better, Salt Scrub or Sugar Scrub?”  Well, the answer is that both have their purpose.  Salt scrubs are excellent exfoliants, especially for the very roughest or calloused areas on your body like knees, elbows and feet.  But sugar scrubs have the distinct advantage of polishing AND moisturizing skin at the same time.  That is why at Vitabath, we choose to offer an Exfoliating Sugar Scrub that is gentle enough to use everyday, even on your face!

Gentle exfoliation is key to smooth, soft skin that stays that way.  Vitabath Exfoliating Sugar Scrub is a sugar-based formula that gently polishes by removing dull, flaky skin, leaving skin feeling silky smooth and intensely hydrated.  We believe in the many advantages of a sugar scrub over a salt scrub:

  • Use Everyday – Sugar scrubs are “softer” than salt scrubs and are gentle enough to be used everyday in the shower, if you wish.  The granules in our sugar scrub tend to be finer and are better suited for sensitive skin. Because the grains are smaller they dissolve readily in warm water and are therefore less coarse and less abrasive than salt scrubs. They are suitable for all skin types because they don’t have any harsh side effects.
  • They Moisturize – Sugar scrubs are gentle in nature and less drying than salt scrubs.  They can aid in preventing skin ailments like psoriasis and eczema because they hydrate the skin so well. We blend the sugar crystals with macadamia seed and coconut oils to soften and hydrate newly revealed skin.
  • They Soothe – Sugar is soothing, while salt can be stinging or irritating to the skin, especially if you have sensitive skin, or any small cuts or abrasions. Our sugar scrub is enriched with emollients, skin conditioners, and moisturizers like Sunflower Seed Oil, Macadamia Seed Oil, Coconut Oils, Shea Butter and Aloe Vera to soothe and hydrate skin.

Remember this order in the shower:

  • Cleanse –  First, cleanse with Vitabath Moisturizing Gelee in the bath or shower.
  • Exfoliate  – Then polish your skin with Vitabath Exfoliating Sugar Scrub. You clear away dead skin to get the closest layer to the hair.  Sugar scrub will exfoliate and moisturize at the same time!
  • Shave – Then shave for a perfectly smooth leg. (Note – You may consider shaving before exfoliating if your skin is not too sensitive.  This way you won’t shave away some of the botanical oils that provide a protective layer on your skin after using the sugar scrub.)
  • Moisturize – For additional moisturizing benefits, follow with Vitabath Moisturizing Lotion and Hand Creme.

Original Spring Green Gelée

What’s the difference between Vitabath® Gelée and the shower gels you find on the shelf in the beauty aisle?  It’s the highly concentrated formula that creates a thick, creamy lather.

Gelée’s Unique Formula

  • Vitabath uses twice the active ingredients that typical body washes use.
  • Because it is so concentrated, you can use less in the shower and make your bottle last longer!
  • It was originally created in 1957 by European skincare specialists who set out to develop an alternative to traditional soap that wouldn’t dry out and irritate the skin.
  • Whereas most body washes are composed of around 70% water, Vitabath® Gelée is fortified with 23 essential ingredients.
  • Gelée has a one-of-a-kind sulfate free, antioxidant rich blend of vitamins, botanicals and a new superfruit complex.
  • It is composed of natural botanicals such as cooling cucumber, calming lavender oils, soothing green tea extracts, aloe vera, mint, and citrus.

How Gelée helps your skin

  • The antioxidant properties, including horse chestnut extract, along with Vitamins B5 and C, sooth and calm skin that is inflamed or irritated.Gelée Family
  • Vitamins A and E provide moisture.
  • Vitamin B3 and sunflower seed oil improve the skin’s conditioning overall.
  • Biotin strengthens the skin.

Luxury of Gelée

  • The rich, thick lather of Gelée soothes and refreshes the skin, allowing for the hectic schedule of the everyday to be punctuated by brief moments of luxury.
  • The four clean, rejuvenating fragrances wash over your senses and leave your skin feeling and smelling amazing all day long.

So now you know what puts the Vita in Vitabath® and you can wash assured that you’re quenching your skin with the best!

Pass the butter, please…

August 18, 2010

Shea Butter has been around for centuries, but has never been more top of mind than now.

So how much do you really know about Shea Butter? We are excited to talk about Shea Butter because it is a key ingredient in one of our newest products…Vitabath Hand Crème 20% Shea Butter formula!

Shea TreeShea Nut It all begins in Africa…Shea Butter, also known as Karite Butter, is derived from the Shea Tree, or Karite Tree indigenous to Africa. The fruit of the Shea Tree has a thin pulp that surrounds a large oil-rich seed from which the Shea Butter is extracted by crushing and boiling.

The ivory-colored natural fat contains many fatty acids and it these fatty acids that give Shea Butter its unique natural restorative properties and makes it a particularly effective moisturizer and emollient. Moisturizers help to nourish and protect skin. Emollients wonderfully soften and soothe the skin. shea butter

The magic of Shea Butter is vast:

  • Recognized for its anti-aging benefits, it can help diminish wrinkles and promote cell renewal.
  • It contains Vitamins A and E which helps to keep skin supple and healthy. Vitamin A has antioxidant properties – the latest buzz word – which basically means, it can neutralize free radicals in the body that cause tissue and cellular damage.
  • It has also been known to have anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. No wonder it is used in so many cosmetic products!
  • And no secret why we had to formulate our new Hand Crème with 20% Shea Butter – to simply nourish and protect your skin!

Our 4.2 oz Hand Crème tube is a nice size to pack in your purse, always there to give you a helping hand. So pass the Shea butter, please!
